Roan Kearsey-Lawson New York Connections Quartet
"A Truly World Class Vibes Player" (Chris Hare 2017, CAA, Covent Garden, London)
A perfect club and festival band. Experienced at putting on shows throughout the band with Roan Kearsey-Lawson on Vibes, John Pearce on Piano, Paul Morgan on Bass and Rod Brown on Drums.
Every tune has a New York Connection. Cool and entertaining. A project with the feel of New York. A mix of the New and Old. Just imagine what Lionel Hampton would play back then and if he was around now. Add to this the unique qualities of Roan's compositions and you have a wonderful New York Mix.
Some tunes such as 'Happy Bones' sound like we are back with Hampton with Roan going into hyper-speed, the tune 'Gates Mate' is based upon sessions held in Lionel Hampton's New York apartment between Lionel and Frank Griffith (Roan and Frank have a Hampton/Goodman project too), whereas 'Cloth Ears' is a modern modal track dedicated to one of Roan's Grandfather's who spent the family fortune in New York City!
